First Hawick appearance for band dubbed the new Mumford and Sons

AN UP-AND-COMING folk band who have drawn both widespread praise and comparison with Mumford and Sons will launch a Scottish tour at Tower Mill tonight.

Bard, who burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion, taking festivals such as Glastonbury and Cambridge by storm, will take to the Hawick stage for the first time, and the band are thrilled to be making their Hawick debut.

Lead singer Theo Bard said: “It’s our first time in Hawick. I have heard great reports about the venue from other musicians we know who have played at Tower Mill.

“We also have fans in the area who keep in touch with us and it’s going to be great to meet up with them again.”

Bard, who are based in London, launched their debut album to widespread acclaim, were triumphant visitors to Glasgow’s Celtic Connections Festival in January, and continue to tour extensively, building their reputation as one of the most entertaining acts around.

Their only other Borders date is at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles on Thursday.
