STANDHILL cheesemakers Jim and Annie Shanks proved they have the recipe for success after scooping a top accolade at the Royal Highland Show.
The Minto farmers were awarded the prestigious 'Best Speciality Cheese produced in Scotland' title for their popular Roxburgh Roondie, which crowns it as the nation's best non-cheddar cheese.

A delighted Annie told the Hawick News: "We were up against all the big guys and never thought we had a chance. The Roondie is a particularly difficult cheese to get just perfect, but clearly we must be doing something right!"

As well as the special award, the Shanks' Roondie gained a gold award, while their Borders Brie got a silver and their Fatlips Castle Blue a Bronze.

Matt Glover, left, director of competition sponsor Lactalis MacLelland, presented the prize to Annie and Jim.
