The 49th Jimmie Guthrie Memorial Run has been hailed a huge success with more than 150 entries taking part in Sunday's annual event.
The run – which is held in memory of Hawick motorcycle ace Guthrie, who died as the result of an accident in the German Grand Prix in 1937 – went smoothly, with no major breakdowns and only one minor incident at Towford.

Teries gathered in their droves at the museum from where they saw the vintage cars and motorcycles pass by on their way to the Guthrie Memorial.

Organiser Jimmy Steel told the Hawick News: "It was a super day, the sun was shining and the route was really good too. It was also great to see so many people at the park and in such great weather.

He added: "We're already looking forward to next year as it will be our 50th."

The results were: Jimmy Guthrie Cup (presented by Drew Wilson) – 1927 Coventry Eagle, Ian McGilvary, Edinburgh. The Feuars' Shield for Best Car (presented by Margaret Hislop) – 1936 Alvis, M. Milne, Edinburgh. Mary Steel Rosebowl (presented by Marlyn Douglas) – 1962 MGA, D. Spencer, Edinburgh. Steve Hislop Quaich (presented by Margaret Hislop) – 1967 Matchless, J. Tait, Morpeth.

Distance awards went to: J. Calver, Durham; D. Stewart, Aberdour; R. Morris, Seal Island; and S. Harvie, Chatham, Kent.
