With Hawick Knitwear workers voting for industrial action asking for more money than they have been offered . . .
. . . the Highland Games under threat of being axed due to the lack of support from 14,600 people in the town, the Farmers' Market struggling due maybe to the produce being too expensive, and in these money squeezed times, the Hawick News reporting t
hat at the last meeting of the Hawick Development Group, Michael Moore MP, Christine Grahame MSP, John Lamont MSP and leader of the council David Parker sent their apologies, one has to ask what is going on?
Even John Swinney MSP, Holyrood Finance Minister, has visited the town on at least two occasions, but the result was lip service, and actions speak louder than words. There are still no job opportunities being announced for the largest town in the Borders.

With Hawick Knitwear having picked itself up, now workers have voted for an overtime ban. Surely this action will cause disruption to orders being sent out? And lack of support for the Highland Games and Farmers' Market, do we really want to lose these two fine Hawick institutions?

Apologies given by our MP, MSP's and leader of the council to the Hawick Development Group, one really has to question if they are collectively commited to the development of the town. Our SBC councillors, five of whom are on the ruling group/executive at St Boswells, will continue to struggle to attract jobs unless there is a concerted attempt from all of them to represent their constituents at Westminster, in the Scottish Office, Holyrood or at the ivory towers that is council headquarters.
