I would just like to bring to your attention the uncaring attitude being displayed by staff at the Hawick Job Centre who are dealing with the many unfortunate Teries who have just been made redundant.
The staff don't show any compassion to the new influx of those who have just been paid off – many for the first time – and speak to them as if it's their own fault that they are on the dole.

Some comments I've heard from people affected are that it's bad enough having to sign on, but there's so much to take on board that you are penalised for not attending bang on your allotted time.

In some cases those out of work are so embarrassed to ask for help because the staff attach such a stigma to being unemployed.

Maybe Job Centre staff should remember it's those who have just been made redundant, some of whom had been working for almost 40 years, who have contributed by way of taxes to their wages.
