I TRIED hard to resist writing this letter, but could not do so.
After seeing the complaints from the councillors on the front page (February 19) about the length of time contractors have taken to finish water works in the town, all I can say is, they have it made.
Try staying in the Teviot Valley.

I've lived
there for the past 26 years and I can't remember the last time I went to town with a clear run.

When I first moved there they were making a new road bridge through my garden. Since then we've had a landslide at Harwood, water drainage at the Vale's Cottage, road drainage at Newmill straight, Scatter Penny corner widened and slip tar and barriers put up, tree felling at Branxholme Castle, bridge damage twice at Branxholme Castle, the Branxholme straight landslide which has lasted three years, water pipe work at Martins Bridge and then to Park Dale (twice), The Dunk corner right and left hand wall which has been going on for a year, lorry damage to Martin's Bridge which has happened three times, repairs to the walkway at the tennis court bridge, gas repairs at Balcary, water works at the high school and the Sandbed.
This is mentioning just a few.

When you have to leave the house to go to Hawick 20 minutes early every day, then you can say you've had it bad.

I'm sure I speak for everyone in the Valley.
