I refer to your article on May 22, and was delighted to hear that the opening times for the toilets in the Haugh are to be extended during the Common-Riding period.
Last year I had my family arrive from Oxford for the big weekend, and was very embarrassed that they had to seek the kind permission of the Burns Club in order to use its facilities.

I was one of those mentioned in your article who wrote to Councillor Stuart Marshall the following week, and at that time he assured me he would do his best to resolve the situation for next year. Thank you Mr Marshall for keeping your word.

I am sure by having these toilets open for longer during the busiest weekend of the year in Hawick will be a godsend for the many people who will descend on the Haugh during the Common-Riding.
