POLITICIANS at the Scottish Parliament have been left in no doubt about what pupils from Hawick and the surrounding area think about their town.
Youngsters representing all the schools in and around Hawick took it in turns to showcase the ambitious Vision 2014 project in the members' gallery at Holyrood throughout last week.
It included presentations, displays and boards as well as picture
s, screens and a DVD from the previously held pupils conferences.
And among the interested onlookers was First Minister Alex Salmond, education minister Mike Russell and former Drumlanrig and High School pupil Peter Peacock MSP.
Janice Chapman, Burnfoot Community School head teacher and chairperson of the Vision 2014 project, said: "The children were all great ambassadors for the town and I am sure everyone who was in the Parliament last week now knows where Hawick is and what great children and young people we have in our town."
The visit was sponsored by Hawick MSP John Lamont, who provided lunch and escorted the pupils around the parliament.
High School rector Alan Williamson said the signs looked good for the project to grow even more in the future.
"I have to thank John Lamont MSP for sponsoring the event and Janice (Chapman) for her drive and enthusiasm in leading the programme and Clair (Hood) for her tremendous support," he said. "If we can achieve all of this in our first year, with ongoing community support I am very hopeful that we can deliver for the children in the years to come."
