THE curtain rises tonight on the hotly-anticipated movie version of 'Sex and the City' at the Tower Mill cinema.
Glamorous thirty-something New Yorkers Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are back four years after the Golden-Globe award winning telev
ision series ended, and fans won't be disappointed. With time bringing a few changes, the sound of wedding bells and style icon Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) boasting 81 outfit changes, the weekend blockbuster is packed with style, tears and laughter.
Tomorrow morning and Sunday's matinee movie is one for the kids and the rest of the family, with the American movie 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad'. Everyone's favourite tank engine is given the big screen treatment, along with Hollywood stars and magical special effects. Eleven-year-old Lily (Mara Wilson) sets off to see her grandpa (Peter Fonda), ends up on the wrong train and arrives to find Thomas's position on the island of Sodor is threatened by his rival Diesel who wants to locate a magical lost engine and destroy her. She also meets Mr Conductor (Alec Baldwin) who is running out of the gold dust which allows him to magically transport himself from place to place, and without it there will be no way for anyone to travel to Sodor. But all will be well if Lady, a missing golden engine, can be found.
The family fun continues on Tuesday afternoon with Jerry Seinfeld's hugely-popular 'Bee Movie' animation. Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his career choice of making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, his life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey and subsequently decides to sue mankind. The voices of Renee Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, John Goodman and Chris Rock also feature.
