THE 48th annual Jimmie Guthrie Memorial Run for vintage cars and motor cycles takes place on Denholm Green this Sunday.
More than 120 entries have been received for the event which will follow a route leaving the Green at 1pm heading in the first instance to Harestanes Visitor Centre.

From there the entries will travel to Maxton, Lilliesleaf, Ashkirk, Roberton and
Wilton Lodge Park. At this point participants will be able to visit the museum to view the Jimmie Guthrie and Steve Hislop exhibitions. They will then head back to Denholm, arriving at approximately 4 pm.

There are 10 entries competing for the pre 1938 Jimmie Guthrie Motor Cycle Cup. Other awards are the Mary Steel Rose Bowl, The Steve Hislop Quaich and the Feuars Shield for the Best Car in the Show. Mike Povey's 1912 Model T Ford will be on show along with the oldest motor cycle, a 1912 Triumph owned by Jonathon Hill, Cramlington.

Another interesting piece of engineering on show is a water ram designed and built by Archie Guthrie, the brother and business partner of Jimmie. Entries have been received from all over the country including one from New South Wales, Australia. A commemorative plaque will be presented to each entrant. There will also be on sale a DVD of last year's rally, priced £5.

A car boot sale will also be held on the green, selling specialist items to vintage car and motor cycle enthusiasts. For further information, contact Jimmy Steel on 870505.
