HAWICK is hosting the fourth Scottish Borders Chess Congress next weekend, when players from all over Britain will be competing for the biggest prize ever in a Scottish three-day tournament.
The Scottish Grand Prix event gets under way in the town hall on Friday, July 25, at 7pm, and among those competing is a top English chess Grand Master.

Local enthusiasts are invited to take part in the competition and compete for prize money which ranges from £100 to the £1,000 top prize, as well as the Scottish Borders Council Cup. There are discounted entries of £15 for Borders residents to play between four and five games in the tournament.

Cafe and bar facilities will be open throughout the weekend.
