AS organisers put the finishing touches to this weekend's Hawick Reivers Festival, budding photographers are being invited to focus their talents on a competition to record what promises to be an action-packed two days.
The busy programme will offer no shortage of subject matter for keen snappers, and a contest, which is supported by Derek Lunn, will be divided into three categories for primary school entrants, those at the high school and adults.

an Cath Elliott-Walker said: "We very much hope that our many local photographers will take this opportunity to support the festival."
Saturday and Sunday's events will include the Reivers procession, a 16th-century market, trials and live entertainment in Lovel Court, and the popular torchlit procession and spectacular fireworks display – which this year promises to be the biggest and best yet.
There will be plenty to photograph at Sunday's reivers encampment, where scores of youngsters will be pitched into mock battles, as well as getting up close to birds of prey and trying their hand at archery – not to mention meeting members of the visiting re-enactment groups, such as Knights of Monymusk and Best of Times, Worst of Times, who will be joined by the newly-formed Border Clansmen.
Amateur snappers are also invited to train their lenses on a new addition to Sunday's programme with horse-and-carriage rides from the Haugh to the museum, while pony rides will be available at the encampment.
Application forms for the photography competition can be downloaded from the festival website at www.hawickreivers.com or collected in person from ILF Imaging in Sandbed.
Townsfolk are also reminded that it is essential that tickets are bought in advance for both the Sunday lunchtime concert and the literary high tea. These must be obtained from Bannerman Burke by Tuesday.
