What’s happened to farmers’ principles?

In A recent pamphlet produced by Infinis it was suggested that the proposed Cummings Hill windfarm will have considerable benefits for the local community.

Does the money offered by Infinis, which will be divided between the four communities of Hobkirk, Jedburgh, Jed Valley and Southdean, compensate for nine months of considerable road disruption, the loss of peatland habitat, a permanent blot on the iconic landscape view from Carter Bar and the inevitable loss of tourist income to local businesses and accommodation?

Perhaps the only true beneficiaries will be local landowners who will certainly gain much more than they could by using the land for farming.

What has happened to the principles of these farmers who once were the conservationists of our Scottish Borders landscapes and rural traditions?
